Main duties
Job description: Waking Night - Support Worker
• Being a positive role model for parents and children alike.
• Following the safeguarding policy and procedure.
• Adhering to key laws and legislation in relation to safeguarding and care proceedings and working in a residential family centre.
• Contribute to the safe running of our service.
• To participate in the ethos of a skilled professional team, attending and participating in team meetings and regular supervision.
• Supporting our parents and families to be safe and engaged in all day-to-day living activities.
• Support parents with a wide range of capabilities and associated risks, care for their child(ren).
• To assist the keyworkers with day-to-day tasks and running of the house.
• Supporting parents develop their parenting style, learn new skills, increase confidence and develop attachments with their child(ren).
• Care for and nurture families who have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences, whilst they undergo a residential parenting assessment.
• Supporting our parents with social activities by attending various appointments, groups, or activities and helping them to make safe choices in new environments.
• Be non-judgmental and inclusive whilst working with a diverse range of service users.
• To communicate effectively with colleagues during handovers and ensure information is shared within the team
• Reliably and accurately maintain written records of observations within daily logs.
• Occasionally care for babies and young children.
• Supervised contacts between children and their family members.
• To be a team player.
• To have good basic English and IT skills.
• A passion for working with people.
• Good communication skills.
• Observant.
• To capture and record important life events and milestones for the family to treasure long after placement.

Qualifications/ and experience
All qualifications and transferable skills are considered. Regular training will be expected as part of the induction process and at regular intervals. All staff must commit to completing Level 3 NVQ Children and Families if they do not already have this qualification. With the hope they will move on to complete Level 4.
Experience in a Residential family centre is not necessary; support workers have a wide range of
transferable experience, such as being a parent, working with the public, working in schools, working with looked-after children, or working in health services.
