Position
An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Podiatrist at University Hospital Ayr.
What you will do:
As a supported clinician you will provide high quality care to a range of patients including those with complex needs such as those with complications associated with diabetes and peripheral arterial disease.You will undertake new patient and review clinics and house visits within community settings within south Ayrshire. You will be required to appropriately refer patients to a senior member of the Podiatry and high risk multidisciplinary team and to liaise with other agencies as appropriate within HSCP to enable best care outcomes for the patient. The responsibilities will also require you to develop the skills necessary to independently plan, organise and manage your caseload. You will be under the direct and indirect supervision of an Advanced Podiatrist, a Podiatry Team Manager and/or Specialist Podiatrist.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:
Knowledge
Selection of relevant assessment techniques relating to lower limb conditions and complications e.g wound management, PAD, Diabetes risk assessments, Falls, Interventions available to the management of wounds/ use of dressings
Training
HCPC Registration
B.Sc. in Podiatry or DPodM
Certificate in Local Anaesthesia
Experience
Evidence of diagnosing and identifying individual’s clinical/medical need as part of undergraduate placements or within current post. Demonstrate autonomous working and when to escalate cases to colleagues for their input. Experience in IT & e-systems desirable although training is provided. Demonstrate experience of working with patients with Diabetes with the ability to identify ‘at risk’ patients. Experience of referring relevant patients onwards for specialist assessment including imaging, drug therapy, vascular & renal and hospital admission with support of colleagues
