An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in Engineering Drawings / CAD to join a growing engineering curriculum team in Barrow-in-Furness.
This role would suit either an experienced Engineering Lecturer or an industry professional with strong CAD and technical drawing experience who is looking to move into education. If you have a passion for developing future engineering talent and hold a minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering alongside qualifications and practical experience in CAD/AutoCAD, we would love to hear from you.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, training and assessment across engineering drawing and computer-aided design programmes, equipping learners with the technical skills required for successful careers in modern engineering environments.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering engaging and practical lessons in Engineering Drawings, CAD and AutoCAD.
Teaching learners how to interpret and produce technical engineering drawings to industry standards.
Planning and preparing learning materials, schemes of work and lesson plans.
Assessing learner progress and providing timely, constructive feedback.
Supporting learners to achieve their full potential and career aspirations.
Maintaining accurate learner records in line with awarding body and organisational requirements.
Embedding current industry practices, software and standards into teaching delivery.
Supporting apprenticeship and employer engagement activities where required.
Ensuring safe and effective use of engineering and IT-based learning environments.
Contributing to quality improvement and curriculum development activities.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
A minimum NVQ Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
Qualifications and/or substantial industry experience in CAD and AutoCAD.
Experience producing and interpreting engineering drawings within an engineering environment.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
A passion for sharing your knowledge and supporting learner success.A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. Full support will be provided for industry candidates looking to transition into teaching and gain a recognised teaching qualification.
