This role will lead the next stage of transformational growth through developing and delivering increased income in Maggie’s public fundraising income streams.
As Head of Public Fundraising, you will lead and develop a first-class team to develop our portfolio, ensuring it is sector leading, takes advantages of market opportunities and grows significantly year on year.
As a key member of the fundraising leadership team, this senior role will be accountable for leading the team to deliver and grow a multi-million-pound portfolio of national campaigns executed alongside our network of 24 Maggie’s centres and our marketing, brand and communications functions.

Key responsibilities
* Lead an overarching acquisition, retention and stewardship strategy for physical and digital fundraising campaigns, products and events; third party events; legacies and in memory giving; direct marketing campaigns; Individual Giving (Cash, Regular Giving & Weekly Lottery) to achieve significant growth in the context of Maggie’s 5 year plan.
* Review, develop and innovate a portfolio which builds brand awareness and inspires our supporters to fundraise and increase engagement.
* Lead on the planning and execution of the portfolio with appropriate integrated and multi-channel communication plans that inspire support from both warm and cold audiences.
* Drive a high-performance team informed by a specified and actionable range of insight, Business Intelligence, Management Information and KPIs.
* Understand the external fundraising and commercial environment, scanning and exploring trends and emerging techniques / technologies in order to identify and develop new investment opportunities to enable Maggie’s to be compliantly first to market.
* Work with the communications team to strategically maximise the marketing and promotion of events and supporting sponsorship at measurable and acceptable ROI.
* Manage relationships with external agencies to test new channels and deliver activity.
* Ensure that services are delivered on budget and on time and ensure up to date, compliant, contracts are in place.

Skills, knowledge and expertise
* Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience)
* A recognised qualification in Fundraising and/or Marketing and/or Communications
* Experience of setting and meeting challenging acquisition targets with proven success
* Experience building segmentation models and communication plans to inspire support
* Experience working strategically at a senior level, to deliver and exceed multi-million pound targets
* Significant experience of delivering integrated strategic campaigns to agreed targets
* Experience of recruiting supporters at significant scale
* Solid experience of forecasting, budgeting, and presenting complex financial information
* Excellent knowledge of fundraising methodology, best practice and of supporter care principles
* Significant experience of working with and actively managing a range of third parties and agencies
* Strong experience and knowledge of direct and digital marketing techniques
* Competent research skills with the ability to identify key trends and develop appropriate solutions
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a track record for collaborative working and building sustainable relationships at all levels
* Significant understanding and experience of the managing agency and creative relationships and associated budgets.
