Are you compassionate, empathetic, and passionate about supporting older individuals with learning disabilities and autism? Who Will You Be Supporting?
You'll be supporting two wonderful ladies in their 60s, each with learning disabilities, autism, and well-managed epilepsy. Family-Driven Lady: A fun, mischievous spirit who may not speak much English but understands it well. She communicates through body language and touch, and loves sensory activities like head massages, spending time in nature, and enjoying meals, coffee, and cake with loved ones. Relationship-Oriented Lady: A warm individual who values deep connections with her support staff. She has autism and experiences anxiety around staying hydrated, so careful attention to this is crucial. She enjoys countryside walks, sensory stimulation, and outings for meals, coffee, and cake. Building strong, trusting relationships is key to her well-being.
As a Support Worker, your role will be diverse, meaningful, and incredibly rewarding. Provide varying levels of personal care-full support for one lady and occasional support for the other.
Daily Living Support: Promote Well-Being: Focus on gentle exercises, sensory activities, and creating a structured environment that supports their needs.
Develop strong relationships with both ladies, understanding their unique communication styles, and fostering connections with their families.
Manage Behaviors of Concern: Use forward-thinking approaches to set boundaries, provide emotional support, and ensure a calm, structured environment.
