Band 5 Radiography Specialist Dental Nurse – Dental Outreach Centre (Birmingham City Centre)
Job overview
Fixed‑term 12‑month contract, 22.5 hours per week (0.6 WTE). Working Monday to Saturday, 8 am–8 pm, with flexibility across the service as required. Salary £32,073 – £39,043 per annum (pro‑rata). Closing 15/06/2026 23:59.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high‑standard clinical nursing support for dental services, including radiography.
* Support clinical management of the dental specialty and ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and provide care for patients with complex dental, social and medical needs.
* Manage stock control, rotation and ordering of dental consumables.
* Prepare and maintain specialised dental equipment; dispose of clinical waste, including bodily fluids.
* Assist with pre‑operative patient assessments (e.g., height, weight, blood pressure).
* Record and support clinical documentation and patient pathways.
* Identify and support staff and students requiring additional training within the specialty.
* Collaborate with the School of Dental Nursing, University of Birmingham, to provide team training.
* Adhere to procedures to meet national compliance targets and implement Clinical Governance & Quality Improvement outcomes.
* Carry out any other duties as directed by the Dental Nurse Manager or Tutor.
Qualifications & experience
* Post‑qualification in Dental Radiography.
* Current GDC registration.
* Recognised level 3 teaching qualification or equivalent.
* Significant experience in a wide range of dentistry and radiography.
* Evidence of continued professional development relevant to the specialty.
* Experience supporting undergraduates and post‑registration staff in delivering high‑quality patient care.
* Demonstrated service quality improvement and improved patient outcomes.
* Experience of informal and formal assessment in an educational or healthcare environment.
