Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Backend Java Software Developer with a strong background in the Financial Services Domain. The ideal candidate should possess a solid foundation in backend Java, Spring Boot and API development having strong exposure to SQL and data engineering. A person with high mental aptitude, problem solving and debugging skills, proactive, self-motivated and strong communications skills will be successful in this role. Knowledge of Python is a plus. Knowledge of AWS and Front-end technologies (like React JS) are nice to have but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Understand business needs, facilitating and developing process workflow, data requirements, and specifications required to support implementation.
2. Design, build, implement, test, and monitor best in class software components for Data Engineering using Java and other relevant technologies.
3. Application development for Data Governance and Data Quality
4. API integration and redesign for data set exchanges
5. Support users in resolving issues by troubleshooting, providing workarounds, or escalating to vendor.
6. Implement and optimize database interactions using technologies like Oracle, ensuring data integrity and performance.
7. Write unit tests using frameworks like JUnit to ensure code quality and reliability.
8. Utilize CI/CD tools such as Jenkins to automate build, deployment, and testing processes.
9. Contribute to Agile development practices, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
10. Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to coding best practices.
Qualifications
11. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
12. Proven experience (5+ years) working as a backend Java Developer.
13. Strong proficiency in Java programming language, SQL and Springboot.
14. Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive attitude towards tackling challenges.
15. Strong understanding of CI/CD tool chain.
16. Solid understanding of software development principles, design patterns, and best practices.
17. Proficiency in writing efficient SQL queries and designing database schemas using Oracle or similar databases.
18. Experience in unit testing frameworks (e.g. JUnit).
19. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
20. Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD) principles.
21. Experience with Spring Boot framework for backend development.
22. Proficiency in data modelling and database design.
23. Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Desirable Skills:
24. Experience working in the Financial Services domain, understanding key concepts and business processes, is highly desirable.
25. Hands-on experience in AWS is an advantage.
26. Knowledge of ReactJS is nice to have.
