CAM Engineer
Contract: Initial 6 months, with potential extension to 9-12 months
Location: Emersons Green, Bristol
Rate: PAYE £30.70/hr + holiday pay or Umbrella £41.86/hr
About the Role
Morson is currnetly recruiting a skilled CAM Engineer to join our composite manufacturing client in the Bristol area. We are looking for engineers specialising in programming and optimisation of automated composite manufacturing processes. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on innovative projects at the forefront of composite part production technology.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and program AFP (Automated Fibre Placement) / ATL (Automated Tape Laying) systems for composite component manufacturing.
* Work with CAM and simulation tools to optimise fibre paths and manufacturing processes.
* Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team to solve complex engineering challenges.
* Ensure composite designs are manufacturable and meet defect control standards.
* Translate plybooks and design data into efficient automated manufacturing strategies.
* Apply best practices to manage manufacturing constraints and improve production outcomes.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Experience programming AFP/ATL systems for composite manufacturing.
* Proficiency in CAM and simulation software, ideally including CATIA V5/V6, CADFiber, CATFiber, and/or Vericut Composites.
* Strong understanding of composite materials, fibre paths, plybooks, and defect prevention.
* Knowledge of manufacturing constraints and best practices for automated layup processes.
* Proactive, collaborative approach with excellent problem-solving skills.
