Job Overview
Acting in the assigned area, provide consistent and professional support and guidance to SLT team members, operational teams, and the contract supply chain to meet QHSE objectives. Work closely with Mitie colleagues to ensure standards of QHSE management are achieved across all operations.
Main Duties
1. Engage with management, shop floor staff, and contractors to embed health and safety best practices and adhere to client contractor management programs.
2. Lead programs of work and new initiatives related to health and safety.
3. Manage regular audits and reporting, communicating performance effectively.
4. Serve as a key Health & Safety contact for the on-site team and contractors.
5. Manage and deliver training programs, including toolbox talks, to ensure competence regarding HSE duties.
6. Develop arrangements to manage risks from contractors and third-party suppliers in line with client programs.
7. Proactively promote the Health & Safety agenda, including hazard observations, near-miss reports, and engagement of safety champions.
8. Investigate site incidents and accidents, addressing causes and recommending improvements.
9. Build strong relationships with the central Mitie HSE team and engage with high-risk activities.
10. Conduct regular site inspections (Gemba walks) to ensure safety standards are maintained.
11. Manage and maintain the COSHH register.
12. Carry out assessments outside the scope of operational managers, such as Significant Risk, COSHH, and DSE assessments.
13. Ensure all site files are up-to-date for all service lines.
14. Maintain registers for Noise, Vibration, and ladders.
15. Monitor subcontractors' safe systems of work periodically.
16. Perform performance audits on permits and ensure compliance.
17. Monitor and follow up on audit actions and Non-Injury Events (NIEs).
