Express Recruitment is pleased to represent a respected Midlands-based consultancy in their search for an experienced Lead Civil Engineering Associate to support their growing Civils Division in Derby. Known for technical excellence and sustainable design, this firm delivers innovative civil engineering solutions across complex projects, from new builds to heritage refurbishments.
In this senior role, you will oversee the technical and financial delivery of civil engineering projects, including drainage and highway design. You will lead a team of engineers, manage key client relationships, and contribute to business development alongside the directors.
The work is varied and challenging, offering opportunities to influence project outcomes. The ideal candidate will be Chartered (MICE) with relevant post-qualification experience, strong drainage and highway knowledge, and experience managing teams and projects. A proactive approach, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with relevant design software are essential.

Roles and Responsibilities
* Lead and manage civil engineering project delivery, including highways and drainage design
* Oversee drainage calculations, pavement designs, and technical submissions
* Manage budgets, timelines, and ensure technical quality
* Prepare reports such as flood risk assessments and transport statements
* Support business development efforts
* Supervise and develop engineering teams
* Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and sustainability goals
* Drive technical reviews, QA, and continuous improvement
Skills and Experience
* Chartered (MICE) Civil Engineer with post-qualification experience
* Proven track record in technical and financial project delivery
* Experience managing teams across multiple projects
* Strong skills in drainage and highway design software
* Excellent communication and client-facing skills
* Attention to detail and accuracy
* Proactive, self-motivated, with commercial awareness
* Full UK driving license and a minimum 2:1 degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent
