Overview
Seven Hills School has teaching vacancies. The school operates over three sites (Granville Road, The Bridge on the Talbot/Newfield campus, and Peaks College, Waterthorpe Greenway). Successful applicants will be based at Peaks College. The school is committed to promoting curiosity, independent learning, confidence for life beyond school and developing students to reach their potential. The curriculum is built on four foundations: Communication, Language and Literacy; Cognition and Learning; Social and Emotional; Physical and Sensory. These foundations are closely connected and form three curriculum pathways delivered through a personalised approach. Students are assessed before entry to determine the best pathway to meet individual needs and long‑term goals. Pathways can be adjusted following re‑evaluation to reflect progress and needs.
The school aims to provide breadth of experience through the whole range of curriculum subjects, with emphasis on developing independence and the ability to generalise skills across opportunities. Teaching styles vary according to student needs, with a focus on independent learning and meaningful, contextual experiences. The curriculum supports students to manage emotions, relate to others, organise themselves, gather and use information, and think creatively and critically. The Post 16 curriculum is designed to prepare students for adulthood and includes three pathways: developmental, semi-formal, and formal. Accreditation options include ASDAN Towards Independence, ASDAN Lifeskills Challenge, and Functional Skills.
Applications are invited for class tutor roles for pupils with complex physical and learning needs, with an emphasis on delivering a wide range of subjects and providing rich and challenging learning experiences. Some specialist subject teaching may be available depending on strengths.
Visits to the school are encouraged; information and application packs can be obtained from the contact below. This posting is open to applicants at various career stages, including Early Career Teachers, and the school offers a support and development program for ECTs. A Team Teach qualification or willingness to train is essential.
