Job Introduction
Join us as our Research Communications Officer at Diabetes UK.
We’re the UK’s largest charitable funder of diabetes research, funding projects into all types of diabetes and its complications. Through the Type 1 Diabetes Grand Challenge – a £50 million partnership between Diabetes UK, Breakthrough T1D and the Steve Morgan Foundation – we’re bringing the world’s best scientists together to accelerate the development of new treatments and a cure for type 1 diabetes. Additionally, our plans to stimulate research that will improve the lives of people with type 2 or gestational diabetes, and help us tackle health inequities, are more ambitious and more needed than ever. All this means there’s never been a more important time to communicate about our research.
You’ll be working in a busy research communications team to translate complex scientific findings into inspiring, accurate and accessible content to promote Diabetes UK as a funder of life-changing research and a trusted voice on diabetes science.
You’ll play a leading role in engaging researchers and the type 1 diabetes community with the Type 1 Diabetes Grand Challenge.
You’ll collaborate with colleagues across the charity and external partners to make our research content sing and inspire people to support our work.
You’ll build relationships with Diabetes UK-funded researchers to engage them with our funding schemes, and to bring our supporters closer to them and their amazing work.
Internally, you’ll help to make sure the work of the Research Directorate has a high profile across the charity and empower colleagues to feel confident talking about our research.
