Great Benefits
West Midlands
We are seeking a NVH Specialist with good recent exposure of Brake Systems to support the analysing, identifying, and mitigating noise, vibration, and harshness issues related to automotive brake systems. This role involves addressing both acoustic and structural NVH challenges that impact customer satisfaction, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* NVH Analysis: Perform noise, vibration, and harshness analysis using tools such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Modal Analysis, and Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD).
* Design and conduct NVH tests on brake systems, including brake noise, brake pedal feel, and rotor vibration, in both lab and on-road environments.
* Investigate NVH issues and failures, applying root cause analysis techniques and recommending corrective actions or design changes.
* Collect and analyse NVH data from physical tests and simulation models using sound and vibration measurement tools like accelerometers, microphones, and modal analysis equipment.
* Collaborate with brake system designers to suggest improvements that minimize noise and vibrations (e.g., pad material selection, rotor design, calliper configuration).
* Develop strategies to optimize braking system performance while maintaining NVH efficiency and safety.
* Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, and quality assurance, to ensure NVH goals are met throughout the development cycle.
* Simulation and Software Utilization: Utilize software tools like LMS, Abaqus, ANSYS, or MATLAB for NVH simulation and analysis.
* Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to NVH and braking systems.
Requirements:
* A good Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in automotive NVH, preferably with brake systems or powertrain components.
* Strong understanding of brake system components (pads, rotors, callipers, etc.).
* Expertise in NVH measurement and analysis techniques.
* Good experience with NVH test equipment and software tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, FEA tools).
* Good problem solving skills: Ability to identify, analyse, and solve complex NVH issues.
* Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for noise and vibration (e.g., ISO, SAE, FMVSS).
This position will be based in the central Midlands area and will work a combination of office-based work for analysis and reporting, and hands-on off-site testing in the lab or on test vehicles.
