Job Description

This role supports global manufacturing strategy and delivers world-class facility solutions through product implementation programs, technology innovation, and legacy facility improvement projects.

The T&PPG/BIW/Paint Facilities Conveyor Team is responsible for introducing new facilities, materials, product lines, and managing current vehicle refresh programs at the Solihull site.


Role Responsibilities

1. Assess feasibility of new facilities and processes; develop and manage projects focusing on cost, quality, and timing.
2. Support the area by providing necessary capability and capacity at facilities and supporting equipment, aligned with program milestones, launch plans, and production requirements.
3. Complete feasibility and cost evaluations for proposed new or modified facilities and processes; define robust delivery plans with minimal disruption to operations.
4. Develop engineering solutions suited to facility capabilities and process characteristics.
5. Create robust and lean layout solutions to support facility project delivery or operational efficiency improvements.
6. Manage contractors in accordance with the Control of Contractors procedures.
7. Maintain and develop health, safety, and operational risk management processes and site-specific systems.
8. Contribute to environmental innovation and reporting (energy, water, waste) in compliance with standards.
9. Coordinate support and input from relevant stakeholders to ensure acceptance, buy-off, and successful handover of facilities.
10. Collaborate with manufacturing and other engineering disciplines to meet cost targets and timelines.
11. Provide manufacturing engineering support to plant personnel, focusing on safety, quality, and cost improvements.
12. Manage facility documentation in line with manufacturing engineering procedures, supporting audits (TS, ISO, SHARP, LQOS, FPS).
13. Lead and participate in cross-functional new equipment procurement teams through all project phases, ensuring procurement procedures are followed.
14. Track project KPIs and prepare weekly reports for departmental managers.
15. Perform any other tasks as directed by the line manager related to this role.

* Degree-qualified or equivalent engineering experience preferred.
* Ability to manage suppliers and project budgets effectively.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing tools and techniques.
* Capable of working independently to achieve objectives.
* Flexible working hours, including after-hours, weekends, and shutdowns, to meet objectives.
* Experience in delivering operational and strategic facilities management solutions across various industries and geographies.
* Contract and performance management experience.
* Knowledge of CDM regulations.
* Experience in supplier selection and tender management.
* Working knowledge of electrical control systems used in automated equipment and conveyors.
