Life Science Engineer - North UK & Wales We are looking for a dedicated Service Engineer to contribute to our Life Science service team across the North of England and Wales. Getinge is a well-respected Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), saving lives through the manufacture and maintenance of a range of life science products and solutions. Our Service Team is responsible for routine servicing, testing, and repairing of our equipment in Life Science facilities throughout the UK and Ireland. You will have the opportunity to make a difference by utilising your technical knowledge and skills to ensure the smooth operation of our machines in the field, representing the business and building relationships with customers and colleagues to deliver the best possible service. This is a field-based role requiring a self-starter with experience managing your workload. While mostly working independently, you will be supported by regular contact with the Service Office, Service Managers, and our Technical Services Department, which has direct access to Getinge manufacturing sites and extensive technical expertise. The successful candidate will have a background and relevant qualifications in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering. Comprehensive training on Getinge’s equipment will be provided by our dedicated in-house training team. Through our Career Progression Pathway, all Engineers are assessed bi-annually against our bespoke Engineer competency-based banding structure, rewarding learning and development. Day-to-day responsibilities include: Carrying out routine planned maintenance, servicing, and breakdown repairs of Getinge equipment on customer sites. Performing routine validation on Getinge and third-party equipment, meeting customer expectations. Investigating electrical and mechanical faults. Understanding P&ID diagrams to troubleshoot breakdowns. Carrying out calibration activities on Life Science equipment. Promoting upgrade campaigns and participating in project integration from start to finish. Upselling, cross-selling, and promoting Getinge’s portfolio, including capital equipment and consumables. Delivering OEM training to customers if required. Providing onsite evaluations and reports for prospective opportunities. Offering telephone technical support to customers. Attending meetings with the Life Science Service Manager for performance feedback and planning. Organising and prioritising a changing workload to ensure timely responses to customer inquiries. Collaborating with service coordinators and team leads to ensure efficient coverage and maintain Getinge’s reputation for professional, fast responses. What you need: City & Guilds Levels 1 & 2 or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering. CSCS (Service & Facilities) HVACR Skills Card. HTM2030 / HTM 2031 or HTM2010 certification (desirable). Experience in a field service or maintenance role, ideally within medical, pharmaceutical, or process industries. Flexibility and adaptability under pressure. Genuine interest in people and customer service skills. Self-motivated attitude.
