About this opportunity
Our client is a Bermuda-based specialist life reinsurer providing life reinsurance solutions to clients in the UK, Europe, the US, and Canada. As a Senior Investment Analyst, you'll play a key role within the Investments team. Key duties & responsibilities:
* Support the development, structuring and execution of strategic asset-based initiatives across key reinsurance business lines
* Contribute to the development of portfolio optimisation tools and provide ongoing investment model support to the Pricing team
* Assist in developing and implementing new reinsurance collateral structures that meet legal, tax, operational and regulatory requirements
* Operationalise new investment and collateral initiatives into BAU processes, including documentation and design of controls
* Deliver investment and risk related management information as well as support ALM, asset modelling, and other technical work, including that required under regulatory regimes/accounting standards
* Coordinate with custodians and asset managers to uphold asset data quality and ensure portfolios are implemented and monitored appropriately
* Develop and maintain highly collaborative and effective relationships at all levels within the organization, as well as externally with the Company's investment managers and clients
What you’ll need
* A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, ideally having worked with fixed income, derivatives or structured products or insurance portfolio management
* A minimum of 2 CFA exams passed with a view to completing the remaining exam, or successful completion of a minimum of 7 actuarial exams, preferably with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, with demonstrated progression to attain full actuarial accreditation
* Strong technical/quantitative skills that can be applied to portfolio construction, optimisation, ALM, and risk modelling, along with strong Bloomberg and Excel skills
* Understanding of derivatives used to hedge interest rate, inflation and currency risks
* Working knowledge of the annuity pricing process for individual and bulk purchase annuity business
* Some working knowledge of insurance reporting and regulatory frameworks, including Solvency II, IFRS and EBS, as well as the wider business, including the economic, market and regulatory environment in which the company operates
