Role: Accounts Payable Assistant
Type: 6 Months FTC (potential to go permanent for the right candidate)
Salary: 24,900 to 26,200
Hybrid working: Remote
Location: Cambridgeshire
Sellick Partnership is recruiting for an Accounts Payable Assistant for our Public Sector client.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Ensure timely and accurate management of accounts payable invoices, including registration, verification, approval, and payment processing via cheque or Automated credit.
2. Assist the Finance Manager in implementing and administering the BACS payment system, and help establish an effective control framework.
3. Liaise with external vendors, address issues professionally, and prepare for peak times to assist stakeholders in planning and forecasting payments.
4. Maintain and develop the interface with the Accounts Payable system as an eBis champion.
5. Support non-finance personnel with eBis/payables procedures and policies to promote efficient invoice processing and approval.
6. Prepare and maintain bulk invoicing splits and journal entries for accurate expense allocation.
7. Generate and maintain accounts payable reports with audit trails, including departmental KPIs.
8. Assist with internal and external audits by coordinating with Audit Teams.
9. Maintain internal communication to support CKH's objectives.
10. Assist with ad hoc reporting and reconciliation tasks for the finance team.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Experience using finance system software
* An understanding of VAT accounting
* Previous experience in Accounts Payable / Purchase Ledger
* Desirable: Housing Association or wider public sector experience
* Desirable: Experience with Open Accounts
