Pay and Working Hours
This role includes a base pay range of £75,000 – 90,000, depending on experience. Annual bonus is based on personal and company performance.
About the Role
Santander Consumer Finance is one of the UK’s leading motor finance companies. We are expanding our Contract Hire and Leasing operation in our Milton Keynes office and are looking for a Head of Operations to oversee the function and ensure delivery of service is in line with strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
* Lead the leasing team to achieve the business plan and promote customer‑centric values.
* Communicate day‑to‑day operational messages and create an environment where ideas and initiatives are encouraged.
* Own and support the delivery of results with process and service in terms of timing, cost and quality.
* Contribute to an integrated resource plan that maximises people productivity at the most effective cost and optimises processes, systems and technology.
* Develop and use MI to monitor and check productivity and performance of teams and monitor quality of current processes.
* Proactively seek to improve the level of service standards.
* Set, measure and implement actions to achieve agreed service standards.
* Recommend and implement productivity, process and service enhancements.
* Communicate improvements so that staff and stakeholders understand and commit to supporting them.
* Lead or participate in cross‑functional projects to implement new or amend existing practices and processes.
* Develop or support creation of project plans to ensure delivery of projects on time and meeting the success criteria, managing implementation into the New Business function.
* Maintain service delivery within budget and headcount control, manage the cost base and produce required cost ratios.
* Adhere to our commitment to Consumer Duty, putting customers’ needs first and setting higher, clearer standards of consumer protection.
Qualifications & Experience
* Directly led multi‑functional teams and achieved results through people.
* Deep understanding of the leasing product portfolio, including salary sacrifice, public sector, SMR, rental, accident management, fleet admin services, etc.
* Can coach and mentor other managers, managing the knowledge base of the functional area.
* Sets high expectations, generates enthusiasm and commitment, enhances team cohesion and confidence.
* Understanding of Balance Sheet and P&L accounting skills and related controls.
* Assesses, manages and controls credit risk within the business function.
* Experience managing high‑value budgets and successful budgetary oversight and control.
* Knowledge of the regulatory environment associated with consumer credit activities.
* Can interact and influence senior management on equal terms.
* Experience in successful project implementations.
* Customer‑centric approach, representing the business with internal and external customers.
* First‑class written and verbal communication skills, able to present to stakeholders across all levels.
