Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Infrastructure Engineer with experience in Kubernetes platforms such as EKS and AKS to join the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). You will work in hybrid cloud environments, lead the design and delivery of secure, reliable infrastructure solutions, and collaborate closely with architects, engineers and delivery teams.
Responsibilities and Experience
* Lead the management and deployment of applications on managed Kubernetes platforms (EKS, AKS).
* Design, build and operate cloud compute, storage, and configuration solutions that are repeatable, scalable, resilient and highly available.
* Administer source code management systems such as GitLab and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
* Write Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform and Config-as-Code with Ansible; CloudFormation experience is desirable.
* Identify and automate toil to improve efficiency and reliability.
* Work within ITIL-based Service and Delivery management frameworks (Incident, Problem, Change) and Agile methodologies.
* Communicate effectively and demonstrate strong leadership skills.
What You’ll Be Doing
You will manage and improve public cloud platforms, support junior team members, resolve incidents when things go wrong and help bring cloud‑hosted services to life while maintaining alignment with technical and security standards.
Working Arrangements
Hybrid model – a mix of home working and face‑to‑face in one of our digital hubs: Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle. Pay: up to £68,517 + 28.97% pension contributions. Flexible hours and a generous leave package (26–31 days + 3 extra days/month flex).
