Job Overview
A self‑supporting, single post holder, responsible for the provision of clear, consistent and quality Health & Safety support and operational activities at all levels of our organisation; thereby ensuring a safe working environment for colleagues, a safe visitor experience for our visitors and guests to the site, and a safe environment for our monastic community. A practical and professional advisory service embracing all areas of Health & Safety management including risk assessment, workplace inspections/audits, investigation, recording and reporting, training and site security. As important as your knowledge and experience will be your style. Our organisation is diverse and complex so a flexible, creative, collaborative, solutions‑focused approach, with the ability to educate, influence and challenge respectfully, will be essential. Working as a trusted advisor to our management and leadership teams, you will be positive, communicative, reactive and proactive, visible, dependable, resilient and a role model for "what good looks like".

Qualifications
* Are as a minimum IOSH and NEBOSH general certificate qualified
* Have at least 3 years' post qualification experience, preferably from a complex and diverse organisation
* Have sound knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and associated legislation relevant to Buckfast Abbey
* Can evidence taking the lead in developing and maintaining Health & Safety process, procedure and systems
* Can evidence promoting a positive Health & Safety culture
* Can establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues at all levels and across different disciplines
* Have the ability to manage technical consultants and subcontractors and our site security contractor
* Have good IT skills that include expertise in Excel, Powerpoint and databases
* Have integrity that aligns to our values and an empathy with the Catholic ethos of our site
* Have a valid driving licence and flexibility to occasionally travel to Staffordshire to provide Health & Safety advice to another area of the Buckfast Group that includes a care home
