Project Engineer – Civil/Maritime

Shape the Future of Maritime Infrastructure. Are you ready to grow your engineering career in a dynamic and collaborative environment? At Tetra Tech, we’re looking for an ambitious and adaptable Project Engineer to join our long-established maritime engineering team in Belfast.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a diverse range of maritime infrastructure projects—from ports and harbours to coastal defences and marine terminals. We deliver innovative solutions to clients’ diverse needs with flagship projects including Loch Ryan Port, Cork Container Terminal and Dinish Wharf Expansion. Purpose & Scope of the Role

* Concept, preliminary, and detailed design of civil and maritime infrastructure
* Production of design drawings and technical reports
* Contract administration and site inspections
* Structural condition surveys and assessments

Reporting to the Director of Ports and Maritime, you’ll be part of a passionate team delivering innovative solutions across the UK and Ireland. This role offers excellent training, mentoring, and development opportunities through our early careers initiative.

You’ll gain hands‑on experience supporting the design and delivery of maritime projects, develop your technical capabilities, and build trusted relationships with engineers and clients. You’ll be confidently contributing to multidisciplinary design teams and helping shape infrastructure that supports sustainable coastal development. Success in this role is measured through technical accuracy, collaboration, and contribution to project delivery. Technical Competence

* Strong understanding of civil/structural engineering principles
* Experience with Eurocodes and design software
* Proficiency in CAD and Microsoft Office
* Health & Safety awareness
* A proactive and adaptable mindset


Problem Solving & Quality Assurance

* Attention to detail and ability to analyse and solve technical challenges
* Ability to work independently and take direction from senior engineers


Team Collaboration & Communication

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
* Confidence in preparing clear and logical engineering reports


MANDATORY Training & Qualification Requirements

* MEng or BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)


BENEFICIAL Training, Qualifications, or Equivalent Work Experience

* Progress toward Chartered status
* Experience in maritime or civil infrastructure projects
* Familiarity with BIM processes and 3D modelling tools
