We are delighted to announce an exciting opportunity for a passionate and committed Primary SEN Teacher to join a supportive and inclusive school in South West London from the beginning of the Summer Term or ASAP! This full-time position is ideal for a qualified teacher with proven SEN experience, particularly working with pupils with autism, who is dedicated to helping every child reach their full potential.
About the Role:
As a Primary SEN Teacher, you will be working with pupils with autism who are verbal and present primarily with social and communication needs. You will be responsible for delivering engaging, differentiated, and highly structured lessons tailored to meet individual learning profiles. Working closely with the SENCO, senior leadership team, therapists, and teaching assistants, you will create a nurturing and supportive learning environment that promotes independence, confidence, and positive social interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with autism and additional communication needs.
Create a structured, predictable, and inclusive classroom environment that supports social development and emotional regulation.
Implement and review EHCP targets, using assessment data to track progress and adapt provision accordingly.
Work collaboratively with support staff and external professionals to ensure consistent and effective strategies are in place.
Promote positive behaviour strategies and support pupils in developing social communication skills.
Build strong relationships with parents and carers to ensure a collaborative approach to pupil development and wellbeing.
About You:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
Proven experience working within a primary SEN setting.
Strong understanding of autism and strategies to support pupils with social and communication needs.
Excellent classroom management skills with a nurturing and patient approach.
Ability to differentiate learning effectively to meet a range of abilities and needs.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with pupils, families, and multi-disciplinary teams.
Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and continuous professional development.
