Senior Design Engineer - Temporary Works
We are currently looking to hire an experienced Temporary Works Design Engineer to join our Infrastructure team based in Sellafield on the SRP Project within the 15 year KDP8 framework. The Project itself is part of a multi-billion-pound project funded by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) to provide safe long-long term storage and processing of nuclear materials. SRM are working on this project covering Civil/Structural/ Architectural work scopes and offers a broad platform of construction work to be involved in. These works are part of the KDP8 Framework which was awarded to SRM in Jan 2023 and is a 15 year framework, so offers great long term progression opportunities for the right individual.

The Senior Design Engineer role
As part of the McAlpine Design Group you'll deliver well considered, quality temporary works design solutions to areas such as; basement propping, façade retentions, tower crane bases, scaffolds and major ground retention schemes.
Your engineering, programming, practical and technical knowledge will be vital when taking into consideration:
1. current legislation
2. standards and codes of practice
3. construction methodology and buildability
4. quality
5. procurement and construction programmes
Your profile
You will;
6. be degree-level qualified in Civil, structural or Geotechnical Engineering or a related subject. Additionally, Chartered Engineers with ICE, IStructE or Institution of Geologists as appropriate.
7. have working knowledge of soil structure interaction, steelwork and concrete frame design
8. feel at ease working with the pre-construction team appraising various value engineering options on basements, structures, temporary work
Desirable
9. Nuclear & Sellafield Major Project Experience
10. Experience in Major Project relating to the role as outline above
11. Familiar with the T minus 12-week Work Package planning process & executing works in a Nuclear regulated environment
12. Familiar with Nuclear quality standards for tolerances & grading for works
13. Familiar with SLP's & Contractor site standards for Sellafield site
