Maintenance Manager

An opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the engineering function at a high-volume, high-speed manufacturing site. The role owns both maintenance and production performance, driving machine efficiency and availability across multiple lines in a demanding 24/7 environment.
The role
* Full responsibility for asset care and maintenance performance across multiple individual lines, with no redundancy, running at high speeds and tight efficiency targets.
* Accountability for, downtime, machine efficiency and availability, ensuring that any line stoppage is resolved quickly to minimise significant financial loss.
* Ownership of an annual maintenance budget, with strict budgetary control, cost-effective decision making and clear justification of spend.
* Leadership of the wider engineering team.
* Delivery of robust planned, preventive and reactive maintenance on mainly legacy equipment, managing obsolescence and ensuring critical spares are available for immediate repair.
* Rapid fault-finding and recovery in a short lead-time environment, using data and novel ideas to get lines back up and running quickly.
* Active performance management of both people and machinery, using KPIs, downtime analysis and continuous improvement tools to drive sustainable uplift in reliability and productivity.
What you’ll bring
* Proven experience leading a high-performing maintenance or engineering function in high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing (FMCG, bakery or similar is ideal).
* Demonstrable track record of owning and controlling a significant maintenance budget, balancing cost, risk and performance.
* Strong leadership and people skills: resilient, decisive, comfortable operating under pressure and prepared to challenge existing ways of working where necessary.
* Experience working with legacy, high-obsolescence machinery, including creative approaches to spares, suppliers and condition monitoring (such as enhanced vibration analysis).
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to work closely with Operations and central engineering while operating with a high degree of autonomy.
