All about us...

Dating from 1681, The Bertie Arms is a family owned, cosy and charming free house which promises a relaxed and friendly welcome to all.

Situated at the heart of the community in the beautiful village of Uffington, our stunning, grade II listed, thatched pub welcomes all generations of locals and serves great home cooked food and an interesting choice of beers and wines.

We have two dining rooms, with a max of 70 covers as well as a bar area with walk-in seats available. Our food is seriously good but in a very unserious way, we offer simple pub classics with twist, sharing plates and snacks as well as the very best local and seasonal dishes that would happily sit on fine-dining menu.

There's always something going on at Bertie too We hold monthly quizzes, live music, Supper Clubs and Themed Dining nights, as well as showing major sporting events and we even have a book club too

We are a special little pub that plays a big part in many lives, we have a new Head Chef and now we are looking for a team to support him and who will care as much as we do about the village and the brilliant customers we serve.

All about you...

As we are sure you know being a Chef is more of a way of life than a job. You'll need bags of personality and a can-do attitude that might see you sorting out a blocked sink if that's what it takes to keep the business on track that day. You will need to be a friendly, self-motivated individual to join our small kitchen team and willing to be flexible to help others out when the need arises. Excellent communication skills and a fun positive outlook on life will be essential

Here are just a few of your roles

* Shared responsibility for daily operations in the kitchen reporting to head chef
* Creating exceptional quality fresh food - championing local produce & seasonality
* Help with writing costed menus
* Making sound decisions and problem-solving
* Growing your sales as part of the team
* Communicating effectively
* Training and motivating new staff
* Helping with regular stock-takes and ordering as necessary
* Handling deliveries
* Liaising with Head Chef, owners and front of house manager
* Ensuring the highest standard of kitchen hygiene & food safety

IMPORTANT INFO -

We already have in place a small supportive kitchen team and we are looking for the right person to complete the squad. It's more about YOU than the qualifications or the experience you have had. If you are a reliable, hard working, honest and easy going chef and you want to work in an ace environment with a brilliant team give us shout.

Position is negotiable full time or part time applicants considered.

Salary: £26,000 - £32,000 per year (negotiable and dependent on experience) – Plus Tips
