About us
Changing Lives is a nationwide charity helping people facing challenging circumstances to make positive change for good. We believe everyone deserves a safe home, a rewarding job, and a life free from addiction or abuse. With the right support, anyone can improve their life.
Our services support thousands annually who face issues such as homelessness, addiction, unemployment, criminal justice involvement, sexual exploitation, and domestic abuse. We focus on strengths, potential, and opportunities to help individuals overcome challenges and lead safe, independent lives.
Our charity is powered by over 600 passionate colleagues in a diverse and inclusive environment. Many have lived experience of the challenges faced by those we support. We seek committed and compassionate professionals to join our team and help change lives.
About the Service - Housing & Homelessness Services
A safe home is the foundation for building a better life. We support those experiencing or at risk of homelessness, including rough sleepers, veterans, survivors of domestic abuse, women, and young people. We provide accommodation and outreach services.
Accommodation is more than shelter; it should be welcoming and supportive, offering opportunities for growth. You can make a difference by supporting people on their journey to a brighter future. At Changing Lives, we provide a home, not just a shelter.
About the Job
We are looking for passionate individuals experienced in working directly with young people (16-25 years), including support planning, safeguarding, risk assessment, referral processes, and housing management.
You will join a dedicated team of 3 support workers during the day and 3 at night, all committed to providing the best support for young people and supporting each other.
You will receive training on all aspects of the role, participate in regular reflective practice, and case management reviews with the team.
Frequent 1:1 sessions will be provided to share positive experiences and discuss challenges. You will undergo a comprehensive induction into Changing Lives and The Halfway.
The core of your role is to support young people in developing independent living skills and leading fulfilling lives.
Empowering young people involves delivering workshops or referring them to external agencies for additional support.
You will be supported to ensure all young people and service files meet professional standards and GDPR requirements.
You will complete safeguarding training to uphold child protection and vulnerable adult responsibilities, following local and organizational policies.
As young people reside in our service, maintaining the premises to high standards and ensuring legal and statutory compliance is essential. Working with our Housing Management Worker, you will report and progress maintenance needs.
