PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £78,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Purpose of the Role
Notifications are one of the most powerful ways we connect audiences with the BBC’s content — in the moments that matter most. As Product Manager, you’ll lead the strategy and evolution of the BBC’s centralised notifications platform, enabling teams across News, Sport, iPlayer, Sounds, Children’s, Weather and more to reach millions with timely, relevant and trusted updates. You’ll use experimentation, insight and cross-discipline collaboration to create data‑driven, audience‑first capabilities that make every interaction meaningful. Your work will help ensure our products feel connected, personal and effortless — supporting the BBC’s public mission while advancing our digital transformation.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
* Product Evolution: Champion the product vision, translating BBC-wide strategic priorities into actionable product roadmaps.
* Drive Scalable Product Design: Lead the product lifecycle with a focus on building scalable, user-centric capabilities that grow with the organisation and adapt to emerging technology.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, UX, analytics, data science, marketing and editorial stakeholders to gather requirements, assess value, and prioritise initiatives that align with organisational goals.
* Product Leadership: Leverage your product skills to make data-informed decisions, evaluate trade-offs, and communicate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams.
* Outcome Driven: Define and measure success, focusing on engagement, retention, and the meaningful impact of notifications on audience experience.
Essential Criteria
* Demonstrable experience as a product manager in a multidisciplinary squad.
* Proven experience shaping product strategy and roadmaps in a complex digital environment.
* Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, product analytics, and design teams.
* Examples of strong communication skills, demonstrating the ability to influence at all levels.
* Demonstrable experience examples of managing competing priorities and delivering to agreed outcomes.
* Understanding of platform architecture and data-driven decision making with a strong experimenting mindset.
Desired But Not Required
* Familiarity with notifications and similar customer-facing communication channels and workflows.
* Experience in public service or mission-driven organisations.
* Understanding of ethical considerations in customers’ data, privacy and AI.
* Knowledge of BBC products and services.
* Experience working in a highly regulated environment.
