Lead Counsel, Domains, Marketing & Trademarks Legal (DMTM)
Meta seeks a highly motivated, team player for a role on the Marketing Legal team. The position will support multifaceted marketing initiatives and requires working with and providing guidance to stakeholders on legal, privacy, data protection and other applicable compliance requirements. Lead Counsel, Domains, Marketing & Trademarks Legal (DMTM) Responsibilities
Review advertising and marketing content to ensure materials are legally compliant
Advise on marketing and promotional initiatives across marketing channels (email, telemarketing, contests, sweepstakes and giveaways)
Drive support on advertising and marketing across broad areas, including ad products, advertising technology, insights, sales initiatives and consumer-facing brand marketing to ensure compliance with advertising, intellectual property, competition, privacy, data protection and consumer protection laws and regulations, as well as other legal requirements
Lead and coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders across product, legal, policy and communications on multi-disciplinary issues, including those related to customer outreach, events and other initiatives
Help to set and implement strategy for legal support of marketing to optimize client journey, streamline review and improve efficiency
Directly manage client relationships and partnership with cross-functional teams
Collaborate with colleagues across time zones and travel as needed
Oversee outside counsel relationships
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a practicing attorney at a law firm and/or in-house
In-depth knowledge of laws, regulations and industry best practices governing direct marketing (consent requirements), advertisements issues (claim substantiation, false advertising, IP) and promotions (contests, sweepstakes, giveaways)
Experience reviewing and providing compliance counseling on advertising, marketing, and promotions, including guidance on consumer protection, privacy, data protection, IP agreements and rights
Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location. Unless prohibited under local law, an attorney must hold a current practicing certificate (including where required from the relevant authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned work location) or the local law equivalent bar registration or license as may be applicable
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of legal experience
Demonstrated experience with independently, quickly and accurately assessing legal, practical and business risks in a deadline-focused environment and making sound judgments under tight deadlines and unclear or ambiguous factors
Previous experience directly managing stakeholders and cross functional teams to successfully complete objectives/projects
Prior in-house experience at a technology company, preferably with a focus on marketing, data, privacy or consumer protection issues
