Job Description
Were looking for an experienced and commercially minded Own Label Product Development Manager to lead the creation and delivery of our own label range. Youll take ownership of the process from concept to launch, ensuring products are innovative, on-brand, compliant, and commercially successful.
This role is pivotal in building our own label portfolios and driving growth through a robust development plan. Based in Normanton, youll collaborate closely with colleagues across the Buying Department and travel nationally and internationally as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and implement propositions for each own label to achieve year-on-year growth.
* Manage end-to-end product development, from idea generation to launch.
* Collaborate with marketing to establish brand identity.
* Analyse market trends and competitor activity to identify opportunities.
* Propose new category developments and enhancements.
* Negotiate with suppliers on costs, timelines, and quality standards.
* Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and brand requirements.
* Approve samples, packaging, and production sign-offs.
* Work cross-functionally with Product Management, Procurement, and Marketing teams.
What Were Looking For
* Proven experience in product development or buying, ideally in own label/private label.
* Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
* Knowledge of manufacturing, sourcing, and compliance standards.
* Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
* Commercially astute with a creative eye for product innovation.
* Ability to travel nationally and internationally (approx. 5% of time).
Desirable Skills
* Experience in business supplies and services.
* Expertise in product regulations and compliance.
* Background in delivering Responsible Procurement strategies.
