The key role of a Team Surrey Taekwondo Coach is to support and deliver high-quality sport to students, while facilitating a positive environment for athletes to thrive.
As of the 2024/25 season, the Team Surrey taekwondo club comprises 25 members competing across three competitions throughout the year, with the aspiration to qualify as many competitors as possible for the European University Championships. Previously, we have had 3 dual career athletes, all qualifying to compete in the European Games.
Responsibilities:
1. Competition Day Support: Availability on all three competition dates is expected.
2. Training (held at Surrey Sports Park): Availability to coach during scheduled sessions and BUCS competition days, typically held at:
* Tuesday (21:15-22:30)
* Friday (20:15-22:30)
* Saturday (13:30-16:30)
Competitions are usually in November, February, and March at various locations across the south and Midlands. Additional sporadic times/locations may be required, which can be discussed with the student committee.
1. Collaborate and work with the student club: This includes selecting competition members, organising trials, supporting club philosophy, and advising on future club decisions to enhance the student experience.
2. General Administration: Complete tasks and e-learning modules provided by the Participation & Competition Sport Manager. All essential e-learning and documentation must be completed within the first 4 weeks of appointment, following Team Surrey coaching policies.
