Are you caring, enthusiastic, and committed to supporting young children’s early development? Do you enjoy working in a busy, fun, and nurturing environment? Milk Education is looking for Nursery Assistants to join our supply team and support early years settings across Wakefield.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Nursery Assistant, you will:
1. Support key persons and qualified staff in delivering high-quality early years care and education
2. Help with daily routines: mealtimes, nappy changing, bathroom, rest, and play
3. Engage children in age-appropriate activities that support their development under the EYFS framework
4. Provide safe and stimulating learning environments
5. Support children’s emotional, social, and physical needs
6. Liaise with parents, staff, and other professionals as needed
Crucial Requirements (NEW EYFS Framework)
To comply with the updated EYFS Early Years Qualification Requirements & Standards (effective 1 September 2025), we need candidates who meet the following criteria:
7. Approved Early Years Qualification: You must hold a full and relevant early years qualification (Level 2, Level 3, or Level 6) that appears on the DfE-approved Early Years Qualifications List.
8. Qualification Check: Managers will verify your qualification using the “Check an Early Years Qualification” digital service.
9. Paediatric First Aid (PFA):
If your level 2 or level 3 qualification was awarded on or after 30 June 2016, you must hold a valid PFA certificate within 3 months of starting.
This certificate needs to be renewed every 3 years to continue counting in EYFS staff:child ratios.
10. English Requirement (Level 3): For practitioners counting at level 3, you must have a suitable Level 2 English qualification as per the updated EYFS guidance.
