Full time - Permanent, 40hrs per week, Monday to Friday
Including Company car or £3,500 car allowance available
There is an expectation that candidates will need to undertake OOH duties, including being on ‘standby’. OOH pay is £30 per weekday and £50 on weekends, paid at x 1.5. Attendance at properties or service users during OOH may be required.
Mears provides temporary accommodation to asylum seekers in Northeast, Yorkshire and Humber, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. As of May 2021, Mears supported over 19,000 service users across these regions. We collaborate with government agencies, landlords, and community partners to address homelessness, expand social and affordable housing, and develop specialist housing for people with care needs.
About the Role:
We are expanding and seeking a Housing Manager to support asylum seekers during their right to work application process with the Home Office. The ideal candidate will be resilient, trustworthy, empathetic, and a strong communicator. The role involves managing property portfolios, ensuring safeguarding and welfare, coordinating with Welfare Support Officers, conducting inspections, and maintaining accurate records. Success is measured by contractual compliance, KPI achievement, and data accuracy.
Role Criteria:
* Experience managing housing portfolios
* Experience working with vulnerable or diverse client groups
* Understanding of safeguarding principles
* Experience with mental health or challenging behaviour
* Effective communication skills with colleagues, authorities, and service users
* Record keeping and risk assessment experience
* Full UK driving license
* Approachable, trustworthy, resilient, empathetic
* Ability to work independently
All roles require UK work entitlement; visa sponsorship is not available.
To drive a Mears vehicle, candidates must be over 21, have held their license for over 3 months, and have less than 9 points.
