Data Solution Designer Job Description: Job purpose: Our IT mission is to transform the way data is delivered to customers and colleagues across the world with the emphasis on simplicity, mobility, and efficiency. Reporting to the BI and Analytics Manager, the Data Solution Designer is an important member of the BI and Analytics Hub Team. Their primary focus is to understand Sage's processes deeply, using business knowledge and deep data analysis of the core data for these concepts. Supporting the Senior Data Solution Designer they will help to architect key enterprise data solutions which are changing how we view and use data at Sage. Using cutting edge data concepts and tooling, the Data Solution Designer will bridge the business and technology to harness the value of data enabling close collaboration across Sage. Working closely with teams of analysts, data architects, data scientists and data engineers to ensure our enterprise data at Sage is modelled, defined and of quality, meeting the current and future business needs. The Data Solution Designer is a key role within the BI and Analytics Hub team and will contribute to the team's main objectives: - Deliver data solutions and services that ensure our colleagues can connect with our customers in the most optimal way across channels - Transform a complex and fragmented IT data estate by bringing together previously disparate sources of data and providing a managed, single version of the truth - Ensure data integrity by mastering and modelling data centrally and providing views or the ability for our colleagues to interact with the data to meet their needs - Rationalise data integrations between downstream and upstream systems via a central platform to simplify our colleagues and customers' experience and minimise risk - Create a culture of data-driven experimentation, promote the value of our data through insights and analytics and demonstrate the tools/emerging tech to support this Key Responsibilities: Key accountabilities and decision ownership: - Work across varying functions and levels of the business to document an aligned data solution architecture (conceptual, logical and physical) for the Enterprise data model. - Champion the process of designing data solutions which meet the current and future organisational goals and ambitions. - Promote modelling standards to allow business teams to build and expand on the enterprise data model. - Capture architectural regret and technical debt and promote the minimisation of it. - Evangelise the value intrinsic to our data and champion the insights we could drive by bringing our data together - Help to foster data innovation across IT; working with technology vendors to explore emerging capabilities, and encourage the sharing of ideas - Attend and support the senior data solution designer in stakeholder meetings, including presenting results, conclusions and recommendations Essential Requirements - Experience of using or designing data models. - Experience/awareness of data solution designs eg Data Vault methodology, data modelling in support of EDMs (Enterprise Data Models), warehouses/marts, BI and analytical models - Adept at performing data investigations and data quality analysis - Strong communication and influencing skills - Ability to communicate clearly to non-technical audiences - An inquisitive mind supported by sound business acumen, focused on addressing and solving data and analytical problems within a commercial context Preferred: - Good experience of meta-data solutions, data catalogues and dictionaries - Experience of writing/executing ETL and data profiling Function: IT Country: United Kingdom Office Location: Newcastle Work Place type: Hybrid Advert Working at Sage means you're supporting millions of small and medium sized businesses globally with technology to work faster and smarter.
