About the role
Heart Failure Fellow – fixed‑term training contract starting August 2026. The post is designed to provide structured training and supervised clinical development in heart failure and devices, while allowing contribution to service delivery.
Key responsibilities
* Receive training in advanced heart‑failure management, including right‑heart catheterisation, pacing and, where appropriate, complex device therapies (CRT/ICD).
* Undergo further training in imaging (MRI and/or echo) and cardiopulmonary exercise testing if required.
* Participate in in‑patient and out‑patient management of heart‑failure patients.
* Support heart‑failure nurses and contribute to the daily clinic in the Heart‑Failure Assessment Unit.
* Take part in the on‑call SpR rota for Cardiology.
* Engage with multidisciplinary teams for HF/CRT device cases and complex patient discussions.
Qualifications and experience
* Minimum of 6 years of specialty training.
* Holder of a relevant higher‑specialty exam (FRCP, FRCA, FRCS, etc.).
* Portfolio evidence demonstrating progression in line with the curriculum for the specialty.
* Desire to subspecialise in heart failure and/or devices or imaging.
Employment details
Contract type: Fixed‑term (12 months). Salary at Nodal Pay Point 5, based on experience. Additional remuneration for extra hours, weekend work and enhanced‑pay hours as set out in the doctors’ work schedule. CPD is highly supported with study leave options. Flexible working arrangements are considered and requests will be taken into account.
