* Salary of £80,669 per annum for 37 hours/week

What will I be doing?
You will lead the experienced commercial property investment team at Somerset Council who are responsible for the strategic management of around £100m of commercial asset value in a portfolio of commercial investment properties, with about 50 tenants occupying properties which generate over £10m of rental income. The overall direction is to dispose of the properties for the best price over a period of several years.
Leading asset management initiatives that enhance value while sustaining on-going property management are fundamental. You will also lead strategic and professional advice on the portfolio, and reporting on this work to the Property & Investments Executive Sub-Committee, lead members and Council directors.
This is a team of three where you will manage a Principal Surveyor and an Estates Surveyor. There are key external relationships with agents and lawyers working on disposals, managing agents and other advisers. Internal connections with Finance and Property colleagues are critical.
As part of your role, you will also:
* Assess options for achieving best value from the assets.
* Leading reviews of asset values and the overall programming.
* Managing the delivery programme including governance and decision making.
* Responsible for investment assets owned through limited companies with Somerset Council shareholding.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

This role requires:
* Full chartered membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
* Experience of commercial and investment property including valuation, lease advisory and transactions.
* Experience of advising stakeholders and clients on complex/specialist issues relating to role
* Comprehensive knowledge of statutory regulations relating to service area and related functions
* Previous experience in a Local Government/Public Sector role would be desirable.
* Excellent IT skills, including ability to use a full suite of Microsoft Office programmes, including Excel.
You will need to be comfortable working autonomously where required, as well as within a team environment, meeting regularly in Somerset based offices.
