We are looking for a highly motivated and professional HCPC/NMC registered Operating Department Practitioner/Theatre Nurse, to work with a team providing high quality care for patients who attend the service for the surgical and non-surgical management of foot and ankle pathology. E xperience in Orthopedic/Podiatric Surgery scrub and previous Band 6 theatre/ management is essential.
The postholder will be working with Podiatric Surgery Consultants, Registrars, Podiatrists, ODP's, Theatre Assistant, HCA's, and Administration staff. The service offers Outpatient Clinics at Danetre Hospital Daventry, with Day Surgery based at the facilities of Danetre Hospital. The service is currently open from Monday to Friday.
This role will mainly include working within the Day Surgery Unit supporting the theatre team to deliver the bi-weekly surgical lists, working alongside Podiatric Consultants and the rest of the team, the remainder of the time will be spent in clinic and supporting administrative/organisational duties linked with service delivery, both based at Danetre Hospital.
The post holder will be required to deputise and work in partnership with the existing Theatre Team Lead to ensure a positive patient experience whilst in Podiatric Surgery delivering high standards of care throughout the department.
Work as Senior Theatre Practitioner in theatre alongside the Podiatric Consultant Surgeons and theatre team, to ensure safe and high quality care delivery within foot and ankle surgical procedures.
Assist in coordinating the department on a day-to-day basis including the Day Surgery unit and clinics.
Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to ensure facilities and resources are available in working order to deliver an efficient high standard of care for patients undergoing day case foot/ankle surgery under regional anaesthesia.
Experience in anaesthetics and care of the deteriorating patient would be beneficial although not essential.
Become competent, in practice and theory in all specialist fields of the department e.g., theatre, pre-operative assessment and follow up dressing clinics if these are not existing skills held.
To ensure equipment is available for carrying out a wide range of procedures and can adapt skills and knowledge to suit working alongside different surgeons and specialties.
To support the day to day running of the theatre lists and clinics in terms of administrative duties and organisation to ensure smooth running of surgical lists with support from the Team Lead.
To supervise other staff as appropriate within the service and support with training and supervisory duties.
To complete audits, stock checks and support with wider service changes with support from Team Lead.
