We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank Healthcare Assistant to join our Primary Care team at HMP Wayland, a category C prison located in Thetford.

HMP Wayland is a male prison that houses around 900 inmates. The prison focuses on resettlement and offers training in preparation for release. We are recruiting for Bank Healthcare Assistants to support the wider healthcare team with tasks such as Vaccinations, Phlebotomy and arranging appointments. We are able to offer training on vaccinations and bloods.

Hours

Bank - Ad Hoc as and when needed and you are available. Shift patterns are - Monday - Friday weekends / Bank Holidays This is a bank position - on our bank you can work a maximum of 22.5 hours per week or 90 over the month.

Salary

Weekdays - £15.80

Weekends and Nights - £

Main duties of the job

As a Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will

* Support the registered nurse in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care
* Be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.

Qualifications required

* NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care
* A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
* Excellent communication skills
* Good IT skills and IT literacy
* Ability to work within a busy environment
* Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures

Although not essential ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community or prison environment
