Teledyne CML Composites is a leading supplier in composites, supporting continuous growth and technical innovation. We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our manufacturing facility in Bromborough, which houses advanced machining technology.
Job Purpose
A qualified Quality Engineer with experience of developing and implementing quality and business improvements to maximise production, profitability, and customer service within an Aerospace manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have good commercial awareness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to develop business relationships to promote growth while maintaining quality standards.
Role Summary
The QI & Tooling Engineer is responsible for the control, maintenance, calibration and repair of all tooling, alongside supporting inspection activities within the manufacturing environment. The position supports both operational delivery and product quality by combining tooling management with hands‑on inspection capability.
Key Responsibilities
* Tooling
o Maintain full control of all tooling: Teledyne‑owned and customer‑owned.
o Ensure tooling is uniquely identified, correctly stored, protected from damage or deterioration.
o Manage the tooling register: status, location, condition, ownership.
o Define and manage calibration and verification requirements; ensure calibration status is valid.
o Coordinate inspection, maintenance, repair, replacement; remove defective tooling from service.
* Inspection / Quality
o Perform in‑process, final and incoming inspections.
o Verify product conformity against drawings, specifications and work instructions.
o Record inspection results; raise non‑conformances (NCRs) when requirements are not met.
o Support MRB, root‑cause investigations, corrective actions and ensure compliance with AS9100 and customer requirements.
* Operational Responsibilities
o Support production teams with tooling issues, inspection queries, product conformity concerns.
o Ensure tooling availability aligns with production demand.
o Identify and escalates risks (tooling condition, inspection capacity, product quality).
o Support introduction of new tooling and processes.
* Compliance & Control
o Ensure tooling control meets AS9100, calibration system and customer requirements.
o Maintain inspection activities: traceable, recorded and compliant with defined requirements.
* Continuous Improvement
o Identify opportunities to improve tooling reliability, inspection efficiency, defect prevention.
o Support reduction of scrap, rework and tooling‑related defects.
Key Interfaces
Operations / Production, Quality Engineering, Engineering, Stores / Supply Chain, External tooling suppliers.
Authority
Authorize removal of tooling from service, raise NCRs, stop production where product or tooling is non‑compliant.
Success Measures

* Accuracy of records and traceability.
Skills & Experience
* Aerospace or manufacturing experience.
* Knowledge of tooling control, inspection processes, calibration systems.
* Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Good organisational and problem‑solving skills.
