Where and when?
The position will be supporting service users in the Cockermouth area, but also have service users in Maryport and Workington areas. We have full-time and part-time contracts available. We guarantee you contracted hours and offer great flexibility if your availability is limited. If you are thinking about a change of career maybe care is for you; it can be a very rewarding job. But if you are worried about making the change we provide full training and you only work independently when you feel confident to do so. When trained you will be required to provide single care worker support calls, but also work as part of our mobile two carer worker team. This is a mobile position, so possession of a valid driving licence and your own transport is essential. So why not give us a call and discuss it with our friendly Manager Elaine.
Hourly Rate: £13.00 per hour +35p per mile mileage for drivers.
What does the job entail?
You will be working in the community, helping those whose well-being requires support from us to live where they wish to live, namely in their own homes. Your working week will be varied, helping different people with different life tasks. We are however dedicated to making sure you see the same clients wherever possible so that positive relationships can develop. You will travel between individual's residences, or if you are part of the double team with another experienced member of staff. When there, what you need to do will be detailed in a plan of care determined by the needs of your client. Your role could include personal care, domestic support or even befriending, but as part of the double care worker team will involve helping people with their mobility. We will, however, only ask you to give the kind of support in which you have been fully trained and feel confident in undertaking.
What if I have never worked in care before?
Absolutely fine, we welcome those new to care. To help those coming into the sector we will:
¯ Organise, and pay for, your Enhanced DBS;
¯ Provide paid mandatory training, and enrol you on the Care Certificate;
¯ Provide full training in Moving and Handling individuals;
¯ Provide paid shadow training with an experienced staff member so you are confident to work independently;
¯ Provide regular paid staff group meetings, and mentoring and supervision sessions with a care manager, to support your professional development; and;
¯ Provide guaranteed hours of work designed around our personal circumstance.
Are you the right kind of person?
Because of the nature of the job, you will need a valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle. The people we support need help most days so you should be willing to work some weekends. Apart from that, we are looking for caring, social, conscientious people who are willing to learn new skills.
