Job summary: The post holder will work closely with CYPS Senior Leads to deliver safe, effective and high-quality services by providing strong clinical leadership and ensuring OT service priorities align with Directorate and Trust values.
Requirements: The post holder must hold a current UK professional registration and a valid driving licence is essential for this post.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide expert clinical leadership in complex physical disability, ensuring service delivery reflects evidence-based practice and supports continuous learning and improvement.
* Manage a specialist caseload of children and young people with complex physical healthcare needs, delivering assessments, interventions and treatment programmes in partnership with families.
* Champion clinical governance, best practice principles and service improvement initiatives.
* Place the voice and lived experience of children and young people at the centre of decision-making and care planning.
Additional duties include holding a complex physical disability clinical caseload, providing support and clinical leadership to Band 5 and 6 team members, and acting as clinical lead for postural care and equipment provision for children with complex physical disabilities. The role requires accountability for high-quality, safe, evidence-based services and ensuring care planning reflects the child’s voice.
Job Description and Main Duties
* Deliver clinical assessment and treatment programmes for children and young people with a diverse range of physical healthcare needs.
* Lead and oversee clinical delivery through robust processes and pathways, aligning with Care Aims Framework/THRIVE/Levels of Intervention or other models of delivery.
* Deputise for CYPS Leads/Heads when required and contribute to out-of-hours services if requested.
* Ensure all complaints and incidents are investigated within policy time scales and implement learning changes to practice.
* Lead team/professional practice development including evaluation, audits, and deep dives; maintain standards of care and professional conduct; engage in CPD.

Person Specification
Essential qualifications and experience:
* Diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy
* Completion of Clinical/Practice Educators Course (or equivalent)
* Clinical expertise in care coordination/caseload management with highly vulnerable CYP with complex needs
* Extensive experience of evidence-based clinical interventions within children's community healthcare
* Ability to lead, motivate and support staff to deliver safe, effective, and high-quality services in a multi-disciplinary setting
* Experience in providing clinical leadership in referral screening, assessment, and the formulation of personalised care plans for children and young people
Desirable:
* Oxford Postural Management training or equivalent practice experience
* Previous involvement in service redesign or quality improvement projects
* Experience of supervising or mentoring junior staff/students
* Trauma-informed approach to clinical care, knowledge of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES)
