Howard Tenens Logistics is hiring a Head of Development to join our team in Stroud, Gloucestershire. This national role plays a critical part in delivering our growth strategy through strong commitment and support.

Duties and Responsibilities
* Build and evolve the business development function.
* Design solutions to enable ongoing development of warehouse mechanisation, automation, and robotics.
* Ensure successful implementations of warehousing, value‑added services and dedicated/network distribution activities.
* Develop Howard Tenens provision of core services such as ambient, chilled, frozen, humidity‑controlled solutions.
* Drive customer/competitor targeting, introducing capabilities in new sectors such as construction, aerospace, and government/defence.
* Develop the strategic basis of Howard Tenens existing development strategy and future objectives.
* Own ‘end‑to‑end’ awards of business from enquiry to RFI, RFQ, cost modelling, detailed quality presentation material and understanding of implementation(s).
* Involved in the formation, implementation, and development of a CRM solution.
* Identify process improvements.
* Coach and mentor the development team to perform to the best of their ability.
* Develop succession plans for the longer‑term evolution of Howard Tenens.
* Work alongside the marketing, communications, events, and property teams to leverage our continued success.
Qualifications and Experience
* A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing or a related field is typically required; an MBA is a plus.
* Minimum of 8 years of experience in business development, strategic planning or related roles, with a proven track record of driving growth.
* Multi‑sector experience to include omni‑channel operations that include retail, independent and e‑commerce activities.
* Multimodal knowledge and experience to support all modes of domestic and international logistics/supply‑chain(s).
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
* Demonstrable leadership skills in opportunity identification, relationship management, market research, team leadership, proposal development, and performance monitoring.
* Proficiency in negotiating high‑value deals and contracts that align with the company’s strategic objectives.
