Head of Technology
MPS / UPS + TL2b
Required September 2025
Kinver High School is seeking to appoint an inspirational and ambitious Head of Technology to join our welcoming school, where Ofsted (Dec 21) reports that pupils behave well and are courteous.
The ideal candidate will share our student-centered values, be an engaging and proactive teacher with a passion for lifelong learning, and be committed to ensuring every student achieves success, enjoys school, and engages with wider school life to reach their full potential.
The candidate should ideally be a Design Technology specialist and an outstanding classroom practitioner, with the ability and experience to teach through to A-Level or the desire to do so in the future. Kinver High School consistently achieves above national outcomes at KS4 (P8+0.28) and has an ALPs score of 2. The successful candidate will build upon current developments within the school, Trust, and nationally to further improve outcomes and aspirations for all students.
At KS3, all students study Technology (Design and Food), and in Year 9, they can specialize in Design Technology, Food Technology, or Engineering. All three disciplines are offered at KS4. Technology is a popular subject, valued by students and parents, with strong and growing uptake and excellent outcomes:
* D&T – P8 score was +0.29, with 70% grade 4+, 60% grade 5+, and 10% grade 7+.
* Food Technology – P8 score was +0.60, with 81% grade 4+, 65% grade 5+, and 29% grade 7+.
* DT Engineering – P8 score was broadly at National +0.01, with 85% grade 4+, 50% grade 5+, and 20% grade 7+.
* Engineering outcomes ranked in the top 20% percentile based on the Average Point Score (IDSR 2024).
The department is well-resourced and will benefit from a redesign ready for September. Technology across the school will also be fully refreshed.
We are a Formula 1 School, leading the West Midlands with students at the forefront of this initiative, with a strong record of regional and national success. Students can access professional CAD packages, CNC milling machines, wind tunnels, 25-meter tracks, and 3D printers to develop and test prototypes of F1 cars. These unique experiences help our students stand out. If you are excited about further developing this program, we look forward to hearing from you!
Kinver High School is an oversubscribed 11-18 comprehensive school with around 740 students, located in the picturesque village of Kinver, on the western fringe of the West Midlands. The school has grown rapidly, moving from a 4-form to a 6-form entry in Year 7. It operates its own coach transport service, drawing students from five local authorities, making Kinver a non-selective 'selective' school.
