Job Description:
The service manager has responsibility for coordinating staff and resources to achieve high standards of care, considering the physical, social, and psychological needs of service users. Ensuring welfare and compliance with standards, statutory, and contractual requirements. The role involves operating within legislative frameworks and promoting values and ethos within the staff team and home.
The area Service Manager will oversee and support managers of 5 supported living projects and community activities for adults and children of Lynton Community Care, reporting directly to the Registered Individual.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Referring, assessment, liaison with care teams, families, and advocates to develop personalized care and risk management plans.
2. Maintaining good communication with service users, relatives, and professionals involved in their care.
3. Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices, including the Health and Social Care Act 2008, Health & Safety, COSHH, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
4. Controlling the environment to meet health, safety, and infection control legislation, conducting risk assessments, fire checks, and maintaining a safe environment.
5. Working with CIW, understanding CIW Standards, and fulfilling statutory notifications.
6. Managing legal and statutory documentation, including insurance and enrollment documents.
7. Documenting maintenance issues and ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
8. Monitoring and investigating complaints, generating reports, and implementing corrective actions.
9. Recruiting, inducting, and training staff; promoting openness and honesty.
10. Holding staff meetings, supporting staff development, and supervising staff.
11. Building positive relationships with staff, effective communication, and managing disciplinary processes.
12. Managing staff scheduling, rotas, absences, and holidays, and overseeing medication management.
13. Managing budgets, petty cash, food shopping, and activity budgets.
14. Safeguarding service users and handling safeguarding issues.
15. Applying for Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and working with personal representatives to ensure legal compliance.
16. Being on call out of hours for advice, guidance, and incident response.
17. Attending supervision and maintaining CPD.
18. Contributing to strategy, decision-making, and business growth.
19. Performing other duties as assigned by the Director.
20. Managing budgets and financials.
21. Writing and auditing behavioral reports.
The service manager must have skills and qualifications to support adults and children with learning disabilities.
