About the Role
Are you looking to take your training design expertise to the next level? LMUK SS are seeking an experienced Training Designer to develop and deliver impactful training solutions. This is an opportunity to shape the skills & knowledge of our workforce - we are looking for an enthusiastic team member who can bring fresh ideas to training design and delivery.
The post is based at RNAD Coulport, Helensburgh, with excellent flexible working patterns available:
(9/75) 9-day fortnight or (4xFlex) 4-day week (days can vary depending on training delivery schedules). Hybrid working with remote working typically 1-2 days per week.
Duties / Responsibilities
1. Design & deliver engaging training material to Defence Standards
2. Conduct reviews of training documentation in accordance with company and Defence quality standards
3. Conduct structured interviews with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to capture training requirements
4. Support operational training outputs and wider training team goals
The successful candidate must achieve the appropriate level (DV) of security clearance. More details can be found .
Required skills, qualifications and experience
✅ Training Design experience in Engineering, Defence, Armed Forces or a similar environment
✅ Strong communication and presentation skills — confident in front of a room
✅ Excellent organisational skills and the ability to balance priorities
✅ A proactive, flexible and motivated approach
✅ Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Desirable skills
⭐ Experience in training design and delivery in accordance with JSP 822
⭐ Strategic Weapon System (SWS) experience (Operator or Trainer)
⭐ Hands-on engineering background
⭐ Training Needs Analysis experience
⭐ Knowledge of Defence instructional standards

Lockheed Martin UK – Strategic Systems (LMUK SS) is the single contractor providing specialist Waterfront In-Service Support to one of the Royal Navy's Submarine Programs.
