Talent STEM are supporting a leading high-hazard industrial manufacturer in North West England who are seeking an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to join their engineering team. About the role
The EC&I Engineer will provide specialist support for electrical, control, and instrumentation systems across the site, covering design, maintenance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key responsibilities
* Acting as a technical authority for EC&I matters.
* Leading and supporting projects from concept through to commissioning.
* Ensuring compliance with COMAH, ATEX, DSEAR, and functional safety regulations.
* Supporting troubleshooting, maintenance strategies, and reliability improvements.
* Managing contractors and liaising with stakeholders.
* Driving continuous improvement across safety and performance standards.
Requirements
* Degree in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering (or related discipline).
* 5-10 years' EC&I experience within chemical, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments.
* Strong knowledge of PLCs, DCS, instrumentation, and functional safety (IEC 61508/61511).
* Familiarity with electrical distribution systems and BS 7671.
* Experience of COMAH, ATEX, DSEAR, HAZOP/LOPA, and SIL assessments.
* Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
* Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
