The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will support the planning and delivery of high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment for young people, including those with EHC plans, both in and out of the classroom.
You will share a strong belief in young people's ability to achieve their work and personal goals. You will set challenging expectations, promote self-esteem and independence, and assist learners in engaging with teaching activities and shared active learning using digital platforms like Google Classroom and assistive technology.
You will create and maintain a purposeful and supportive teaching environment, supporting young people to achieve learning goals by using strategies in liaison with teachers/tutors. Your teaching will build from easier to more difficult tasks, breaking down skills into smaller parts to support learners' independence, life skills, and work skills. You will also assist with planning and preparation of learning activities.
Responsibilities
1. Establish clear communication and a professional relationship with teachers/tutors to set clear expectations.
2. Maintain high professionalism, good verbal and written communication skills, empathy, and flexibility to meet the needs of diverse learners and staff.
3. Hold or be working towards Maths and English Level 2/C grade to be considered for this role. You also need a Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification.
Department Info
You will work closely with the vocational curriculum team, reporting to the Curriculum Manager and liaising with tutors to support learners. Support may sometimes be required at other sites.
