GSL Education are seeking a dedicated Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist provision in Chesterfield. This full-time role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of pupils who face emotional and behavioural challenges in their education.
Role Overview:
As a Secondary SEMH TA, you will support secondary-aged students with SEMH needs in managing their emotions, building resilience, and achieving both personal and academic growth.
Responsibilities as a Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH and behavioural needs.
* Foster a nurturing, positive learning environment tailored to individual pupils.
* Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and classroom engagement.
* Work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and parents to support student development.
* Maintain clear boundaries and consistent routines for pupils.
Requirements for Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant:
* Experience working with young people with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs.
* Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* A full UK driving licence with business insurance (essential for off-site activities or travel between sites).
* Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
* Provide a full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any employment gaps over the last 10 years.
