Join to apply for the Intelligence Analyst - Borders (Research & Analysis) (CTPSE) role at Thames Valley Police

Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) works to keep people safe from the threat of terrorism. Working for CTPSE is a job like no other. The successful candidate will be working with teams, which cover the expanse of the South East region, stretching over five police forces and across the wider National Counter Terrorism Police network tackling the most serious crime.

The Research and Analysis Team are vital to CTPSE. We produce high quality research and analytical products to support all areas of CTPSE business. We are closely aligned to the Intelligence Management Function (IMF), the South East Regional Prison Intelligence Team (SERPIT) and CT Borders Policing (CTBP) however full research and analytical support is given to all 4 CONTEST strands across CTPSE.

An exciting Analyst role now exists within the CT Borders Policing team based at Gatwick.

In this role you will provide high quality tactical and strategic analysis to inform, advise and assist decision makers / senior operational police officers in the prevention, targeting, disruption and detection of crime. Furthermore, you will use analytical techniques to create products to inform relevant strategic and tactical planning to the standard defined within the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and Authorised Professional Practice (APP).

Through the application of structured analytical techniques (SATs), and the use of analytical vocabulary, you will provide assessments of activities of individuals / groups / themes to establish the dimensions of the threat posed. You will provide efficient and effective service to support managerial, operational and investigative decision-making. Your analysis will assist in prioritisation, focusing intelligence gathering and guide investigative, enforcement and prevention activities. This will include making recommendations to drive business activity at both a tactical and strategic level.

The successful candidate will have substantive current role-related experience as an Analyst in a police environment/partnership agency with excellent understanding of the National Intelligence Model (NIM). A relevant professional qualification and completion of the National Intelligence Analyst training is also required. Additionally, the successful applicant will have excellent communication/interpersonal, problem solving, time management and effective IT skills.

This post requires occasional travel across the South East region and the UK, therefore the successful candidate will require a full UK driving licence.

Following training, and once established within the role, there is the potential to be part of an on-call cadre on a voluntary basis.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level DV together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.
