We have an exciting opportunity for a Domestic Assistant to join our team at Cleland Hospital. The post holder will provide domestic service to patients, staff and visitors of NHS Lanarkshire premises using effective and efficient methods. The role supports new staff, contributes to a safe welcoming environment and meets hospital acquired infection standards.
Key Duties
Provide domestic services to patients, staff and visitors of NHS Lanarkshire premises through effective and efficient methods. Support new staff in the working environment. Maintain a safe and welcoming environment and meet HAI standards.
Qualifications and Skills
 * Knowledge of cleaning standards and related procedures.
 * Required to undertake on‑the‑job training and induction (4–6 weeks).
 * Working knowledge of Health & Safety and participation in risk assessment.
 * Undertake NHS Lanarkshire compulsory training.
 * Undertake mandatory Health Care Support Workers (HCSW) standards.
 * Undertake and complete the NHSS Domestic Services Workbook.
 * Effective written and verbal communication skills.
 * Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
 * Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively and efficiently in a busy environment.
 * Working knowledge of basic information technology.
 * Ability to work shifts and be flexible.
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
Additional desirable attributes
 * Recognised SVQ or relevant equivalent qualification.
 * Experience working in a domestic services/cleaning environment.
 * Ability to use a range of electrical cleaning equipment.
 * Willingness to learn.
 * Ability to work under pressure.
Contract type
Permanent, Part Time 8 hours per week. This is a part‑time post and salary will be pro‑rata.
Location and Working Pattern
Base: PSSD Hotel Services department within Cleland Hospital.
Working pattern: Saturday & Sunday relief (Day shift & Back shift).
