Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Wakefield, a Category A male prison in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. This is a rare opportunity to join our close knit Pharmacy team, where you will work in our onsite community pharmacy – dispensing medication, second checking, preparing prescriptions and being involved in our new pharmacy shop service.
Hours
This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities
* Work within the onsite pharmacy, joining a team of 8.
* Support the Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Manager, as well as the wider healthcare team.
* Label and dispense medications, and prepare prescriptions.
* Second check controlled drugs.
* Contribute to services such as medicine reconciliation, managing stock medicines and transporting medicines.
* Provide support to ensure a safe and secure medicines management service, following policies, procedures and standard operating procedures.
* Be part of the pharmacy shop initiative – order stock (toiletries), prepare the items, dispatch to the wings and deduct prisoner funds from their personal allowance.
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Dispensing.
* Experience within a pharmacy environment – community, hospital or a prison/secure setting.
* Experience in a patient/customer facing role.

Salary
Annual salary of £25,557 – £29,723 per annum, depending on experience.
